when I unzipped the source I got this error on multiple files: an unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. ETC..
it shows the size of the file as : 0 bytes
this is happening to various files such as Cuyahoga.Modules.StaticHtml.GlobalResources.n ETC..

You may be unzipping files to a destination where files are in use. If not, see this: http://www.cuyahoga-project.org/home/forum.aspx?g=posts&t=1363

\\ What do you mean by "extracting files to a destination where files are in use"? I am extracting the files to the project directory: my odcs/visual studio 2008/projects VS is not running. The extraction has failed on Windows 2007 with the build in zip utility as well as Windows server 2008 zip utility and WinZip Really hoping Cuyahoga turns out to be a good CMS but it isn't look like it.

Did you try WinRAR as it says in Martijns post? I have never had any issue like this. I used SVN and now GitHub to get sources and build myself. People have had issues with zip archives. Try WinRARCuyahoga is more than a CMS. It is an amazing starting point for web app projects in general.
